Job Description for the Part-Time Director of Music

Required Skills and Duties:  

• Build and oversee the necessary teams to carry out the musical portion of the church service
  • Develop the team to be able to lead worship while you are out for any reason
  • Potentially develop multiple teams and create a rotation system
• Skilled vocally and in instrumental direction
• Skilled in organization, administration, and interpersonal relationships
• Skilled and/or knowledgeable in the use of technology in worship
• Ensure that selected music for the service is blended (a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary Christian music)
• Coordinate with the media team regarding the use of technology
• Plan the musical aspect of corporate worship services of the church in consultation with the Pastor
• Direct all weekly activities and rehearsals necessary to facilitate worship in services
• Plan and execute one Christmas time performance each year
  • IE: cantata or play
• Seek opportunities for continued vocational and/or spiritual development
  • IE: conferences or trainings
• Oversee the worship ministry budget, organization, and volunteers
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor
