Worship Leader and Student Minister (Full Time)
Principal function:
As full-time staff minister, a primary function is to assist and partner with the Pastor in the oversight of the church. This includes:
*Planning and executing weekly church activities (Sunday, Wednesday, etc.)
* Being prepared to back up pastor when needed (sermons, weddings, funerals, etc.)
*Supporting ministry teams, attending meetings when needed.
Other duties include:
*The Greeter/Welcome Initiative
* New Member Orientation
*The Homebound Ministry
* Community outreach and church operations
*Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding sensitive matters of church business and members.
As Worship Leader, is responsible for developing, leading, promoting, and implementing a music ministry that will enhance and inspire congregational worship and fellowship, and for promoting music as an important part of spiritual growth and meaningful personal and corporate worship.
As Student Minister, will assist the Pastor in planning, preparation, execution and evaluation of the student ministry of Parkview Baptist Church.
Worship Leader:
Qualifications:
- Must have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and be a shining example of Christian church leadership in word, deed, and appearance in the church and in the community.
- Must be or become a member of Parkview Baptist Church.
- Must have a good singing voice and preferably be able to play an instrument.
- Music education or at least two years of experience directing congregational worship and choral groups in church worship preferred.
- Must have good organizational and people skills.
- Must be able to organize and lead the praise band.
- Must be able to choose, organize and plan music appropriate for church services, both hymns and contemporary.
- Must meet regularly with the Pastor for reporting, planning and evaluation.
Core Responsibilities:
- Works with the pastor to choose and coordinate music for worship services that fit the theme of the service.
- Recruits, trains and leads instrumentalists and vocalists.
- Recruits, develops and leads teams of audio/visual and lighting volunteers.
- Leads the congregation in strong praise of God.
- Integrates contemporary Christian music with traditional hymns to have a balanced selection of music appropriate for Parkview and the young families we are trying to reach.
- Creates rehearsal schedules for vocalists and instrumentalists that respect the time and needs of the volunteers.
- Encourages and recruits church members to offer their musical talents.
- Arranges a replacement in the event of an absence.
- Any other duties assigned by the Pastor.
- Responsible to and supervised by the Pastor. If Pastor is absent, supervised by the personnel committee.
Student Minister:
Qualifications:
- Agrees with PBC’s Values, Doctrine, and Biblical Guidelines for Personal Discipleship and Ministry.
- Demonstrates spiritual maturity and integrity.
- Possesses Spiritual gifts/abilities which include leadership, mercy, encouragement, and pastoral.
- Ability to lead and deploy teams of people in order to accomplish events and tasks.
- Strong team player; good follow-through with people and tasks.
- Demonstrates a passion and love for working with youth.
- Ability to interact well with parents and other adults.
- Certification – complete background check to be certified to work with children and youth.
Core Responsibilities:
- Adheres to PBC’s Values, Doctrine, and Biblical Guidelines for Personal Discipleship and Ministry.
- Has a Salvation experience that can be verbalized; demonstrates a relationship with Christ.
- Demonstrates loyalty to and unity with the church staff and the Youth Leadership Team of Parkview.
- Leads weekly and monthly activities for junior high and high school age youth, including ministry activities, such as Disciple Now, Y.E.C. Conference and Young Life.
- Discipleship – Actively disciples and cares for students throughout the timeframe.
- Sunday/Wednesday Evening - Plans, executes and teaches junior high and high school age youth.
- Event Leadership – Plans, prepares, leads and executes youth events throughout the year, including summer, engaging regularly attending youth, while encouraging outreach to new youth. Provides hospitality at each event. Coordinates the transition of our current 6th graders into youth ministry.
- In the event of absence, has plan in place for necessary substitute youth leader.
- Personal Growth – reports regularly, on time, and with any assignments completed as requested by the Pastor for the purpose of being trained and/or mentored.
- Communicates regularly with the Pastor concerning all areas of the youth ministry program.
- Responsible to and supervised by the Pastor. If Pastor is absent, supervised by the personnel committee.
Compensation: Pay and benefit package TBD, consideration given to education level and experience and Louisiana Baptist State Convention Compensation Study.
