JOB DESCRIPTION FOR PASTOR

PRINCIPLE FUNCTION:

 The pastor is responsible to First Baptist Church, Ferriday, for using his skills in proclamation and pastoral care in meeting the needs of persons in the church and community and in enabling the church to meet the needs of persons, and to provide administrative leadership for the church.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide administrative leadership for the total church program.
2. Proclaim the gospel and lead the church in proclaiming the gospel to the church and community.
3. Care for persons and lead the church in caring for persons in the church and community.
4. Lead congregational services, work with the congregational services, planning  group to plan, coordinate and evaluate congregational services.
5. Supervise other members of the church staff according to the staff organization set forth in the church organizational chart or manual.
6. Provide leadership for the observance of church ordinances.
7. Conduct funeral services and wedding ceremonies.
8. To guide and to work with deacons in performing pastoral ministry tasks and assist in training deacons for their responsibilities.
