FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH of Fannett – Lead Pastor / Elder

The Big Picture:

We exist to glorify God by loving others and making disciples.  FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH of Fannett (https://fbcfannett.com), seeks a Lead Pastor to lead our congregation in service and obedience to God’s Word.  FBCF averages around 60 in Sunday attendance, having ages ranging from toddlers to seniors; including active young families in the congregation and leadership. The body has an earnest desire for the Word and a genuine love for one another. Our previous Lead Pastor (of 23 yrs) has followed God’s leading to retire and we are looking for the man that God would have to lead our local body by example in His continued ministry here.

Description:

The Lead Pastor leads by example and direction; preaching and teaching the Word, providing direction for ministry, and overseeing the operations of the church. Expectations include expositional preaching and teaching of scripture, provision of care and counseling to those in need, discipleship of others to become leaders in ministry, leading/facilitating ministries of and to the body.

The Lead Pastor, alongside the other elders, is accountable for the spiritual welfare and oversight of the church. He shall devote his time to prayer, the ministry of the Word (by teaching and encouraging sound doctrine), and shepherding God’s flock. The Lead Pastor serves as the administrative officer and supervisor of church staff; he is not responsible for doing all the work, but for seeing that it is done and done properly.  The Lead Pastor serves under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Church Body. He directly receives counsel from the Elders and Deacons who serve the congregation. The Pastor serves as the leader of the Church Council, who oversees the church calendar and events.

Qualifications:

• Personal – Meeting all of the qualifications defined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9 is required. Meeting all qualifications of an elder as detailed in the FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH of Fannett Constitution and Bylaws is required.
• Education – A graduate of an accredited seminary or Bible school is preferred, but the ability to “rightly divide the Word” is required.
• Experience – 2+ yrs experience as a senior/lead/only Pastor is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Give highest priority to a personal, growing relationship with the Lord and then to godly leadership of his family and church.
• Be a loving and wise shepherd to the body with the primary focus of faithfully preaching and teaching the Word of God with boldness, clarity, and relevancy.
• Equip the church to do the work of the ministry (Eph 4:11-12).
• Lead the church in obedience to God by example, instruction, and direction.
• Disciple others, training them to be leaders and disciplers of others, as well.
• Give oversight to the care of physical and spiritual needs within the body; including counseling, visitation, church discipline, etc.
• Preside over special services and ceremonies like weddings, funerals, ordinations, and so on.
• Serves as overseer/administrator of paid church staff, supervising and evaluating the tasks assigned to each.
• Fulfill the duties of Pastor and Elder as outlined in the church constitution.
